Following the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney, 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross, played by Hailee Steinfeld, sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. marshal she can find,” Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn, played by Jeff Bridges. She picked him as he is said to have “true grit”. Mattie insists on accompanying Cogburn, whose drinking, sloth, and generally reprobate character do not augment her faith in him. Against his wishes, she joins him in his trek into the Indian Nations in search of Chaney. They are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, played by Matt Damon, who wants Chaney for his own purposes. The unlikely trio find danger and surprises on the journey, and each has his or her “grit” tested.

The characters are a blast. Mattie Ross is a very stubborn and strong hearted girl who you just can’t help but see what she will do next. Along with the drinking Cogburn, who you just wish had some since, makes a dynamic duo. Through the movie you are not sure if he is actually talented or just very lucky. Texas Ranger LaBoeuf is just a werido who is trying to get the bounty of Chaney back in Texas.

Very funny, and enough drama to keep you watching throughout the whole movie. There are some slow parts in the movie, but not enough to be bad. I recommend buying this one on Blu-ray for your collection. I give this movie an 8 out of 10 stars.

Have you seen True Grit? If not, you should, if so how did you like it? Did you know it is on Netflix!
